J. Michael Pressimone, Ed.D., began his career in higher education over 40 years ago. He recently retired as the Vice President for Advancement at St. Bonaventure University in New York. He joined SBU to help bring the $125 million Bolder Bonaventure Campaign to a successful conclusion. He led Bonaventure to their most successful fund raising year, raising over $20 million and raising over $131 million for the campaign.  He served as the 15th president of Notre Dame College from April 2020 through December 2023. Prior to joining Notre Dame, Dr. Pressimone served as the president of Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo., since 2014.

He served as Vice President of Advancement at Alvernia University in Reading, PA; at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC; and at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA.  With an extensive background and experience in fundraising, he successfully led the largest comprehensive campaign at Alvernia, surpassing $31 million. In that role, he also oversaw the offices of development, alumni relations and marketing and communications. In a similar role at Elizabethtown College, he designed, implemented and managed an endowment campaign with an initial goal of $20 million that raised more than $26 million.  Dr. Pressimone is a strong relationship builder with a reputation for teamwork, collaboration and an ability and passion for bringing students, faculty, staff and the community together to achieve mutually beneficial goals.

A native of Baltimore, MD, Dr. Pressimone was a first-generation college student. He has degrees from Catonsville Community College, the Catholic University of America, Regis University and Benedictine University. He is active in the interfaith community working to promote harmony among all people of faith. He and Catherine have been married for 43 years.  They have 12 children and 12 grandchildren and one on the way. Mike is also a liturgical musician, vocalist, guitarist, actor, furniture builder, runner and golfer.
