MATTHEW J. KILCOYNE is Managing Partner with R. H. Perry & Associates. Based in New York City, Matt has led, or been a team member on, over 200 presidential and senior administrative higher education search assignments. He focuses on all aspects of the search process, including needs analysis and the pre-search study; marketing, candidate identification and recruitment; evaluation and screening; candidate due diligence; and selection and transition.
Matt has been a member of the search team for nearly 100 presidential search assignments, including the College of Saint Joseph, Green Mountain College, Marymount University, New England College and Wheeling Jesuit University. Most recently, he has completed presidential search assignments for the College of Saint Elizabeth and Iowa Wesleyan College (2013); Fontbonne University and Seton Hill University (2014); Anna Maria College, Hood College, Mercyhurst University, Marian University (WI), Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, the University of Saint Joseph and Wesley College (2015); Lewis University, Marietta College, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and Utica College (2016); and the College of Our Lady of the Elms and Immaculata University (2017). He is currently leading the presidential search assignment for the Independence Mission Schools.
Matt has also successfully completed over 100 senior administrative assignments for organizations and institutions as diverse as Antioch University – Los Angeles, the Association of Governing Boards of Universities & Colleges (AGB), California State University (Fullerton, Long Beach, San José and Stanislaus campuses), Elmira College, Georgetown University, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Marymount University, Mount Saint Mary’s University, and the University of Michigan at Flint.
Prior to joining RHPA, Matt worked in Human Resources and Marketing in the financial services industry – first for Pareto Partners, a London-based, boutique institutional investment management firm, and later for JP Morgan Partners, the private equity investment branch of JP Morgan Chase.
A fourth-generation native Washingtonian, Matt retains a strong commitment to educational and social service opportunities for underrepresented communities in the Washington, DC and New York City metropolitan areas. He has worked closely with the Washington Jesuit Academy since its inception as both a volunteer and the first chairperson of its major fundraising committee. He has also assisted organizations including: the Higher Achievement Project (HAP), the Church of Saint Francis Xavier Mission, Martha’s Table, and the Whitman-Walker Clinic. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Theatre Delta, which uses interactive theater to promote dialogue and social change in communities globally.
Matt received his B.A. from Georgetown University.
